Tin Valley Retro Rentals first “Clothing Optional” campsite! No need to worry about tan lines, while sunning on the deck of this 1976 vintage Land Yacht called "the Rondavous." Yes, every boat should have a lady's name so why not mine!
As an added bonus the "Rondavous" has also been "tagged" on the exterior with amazing sea murals, by a well-known artist/professional spray painter, Jules Muck/Muck Rock, from Venice Beach, California.
The "Rondavous" Land Yacht was Tin Valley Retro Rentals 3rd renovation and was featured on Nat Geo’s documentary show “Badlands, Texas," catching the attention of travelers all over the world.
Tin Valley is located 35 miles north of Terlingua, at Terlingua Ranch, one of the largest neighborhoods in the state of Texas. With over 200,000 acres of open land, we are surrounded by beautiful mountains and vistas, and have the darkest skies of all the United States.
Keep in mind that with lots of acres means lots of driving. Eliminate wasted and unnecessary time in your car by preplanning. To help mileage is provided below. Also, make sure you have a spare tire! Nearest tire shop is 100 miles away. Nearest tow truck is 250 miles away. Preplan! Preplan! Preplan!
*35 miles to Terlingua, Terlingua Ghost Town, Study Butte, and to the front entrance of Big Bend National Park.
*5 miles to the back entrance of Big Bend National Park, but high clearance and/or 4-wheel drive is needed for this route.
*4.5 miles to Terlingua Ranch Lodge, (available to you) which has a swimming pool, full-service restaurant, shower house, and laundry facility. Ice is also available!
*20 miles to the closest grocery store.
*35 miles to the closest gas station.

I (Ronda/Owner) live on the property if you need any assistance during your stay. If I am away, there will be a camp host to help you out. Safety and security are our #1 priority during your stay.
And the best thing? We are PET FRIENDLY! However, absolutely no aggressive dogs allowed. We have animals that live on property, & other guests too, so please be respectful. NO barking dogs either. Guests are here to escape the noise pollution of the city...and to get lost in the silence that we provide. With the mountains nearby, the barking echoes thru the valleys.

We know this is quite a bit of info, but we want to make sure you don't have any problems finding the property.
DO NOT USE ANY MAP PHONE APPS OR GPS!!! DO NOT USE ADDRESS!!! IF YOU DO YOU WILL END UP LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, 40 miles away!!! BY THE TIME YOU ARE THERE YOU WILL HAVE NO CELL SERVICE OR WAY OF CONTACTING US TO HELP YOU!!! PLEASE COPY AND FOLLOW THE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU HEAD THIS WAY!!!
USE LONGITUDE/LATITUDE COORDINATES ONLY and/or maps directions that have been provided. 29°29'33.9"N 103°20'27.5"W.
Please take a screenshot of the directions provided below or print a copy before you arrive. You will have no cell phone service/Wi-Fi about 5 miles out of Alpine. (88 miles of no service.) If you arrive at night, there are no streetlights in the desert so VERY important to follow these exact instructions. The road will seem never ending but we promise you will reach your destination if you follow the directions and watch your odometer.
DIRECTIONS:
Approx. 60 miles South of Alpine (20 miles north of Terlingua) on Hwy 118. When you see a large billboard to the east advertising "Terlingua Ranch Lodge" (it is a white/yellow/black sign that has a crazy looking rabbit on it) with metal storage units to the side, this is where you turn East. Another point of reference is a cell tower to the East also. The road name is Terlingua Ranch Road. Take Terlingua Ranch Road East for 13 miles. At 13 miles the paved road ends and dirt road begins. Turn Left. Point of reference: You will see a green dumpster and signs that have "Marathon" written on them to your left. You will also see an old vintage arrow sign with Tin Valley on it. What makes this confusing is there is not a street sign showing Sombrero Peak Road.
Tin Valley is 1.5 miles down a maintained dirt road. Any vehicle can make it down this road.! At .5 miles you will come to a Y in the road...STAY TO THE RIGHT!!! Point of reference: Look for both a small sign and larger vintage arrow sign, with Tin Valley on both and pointing right. Continue another 1.0 miles to the entrance of Tin Valley. (There will be a large wooden awning to your left. If you need assistance our camp hosts will be located at this site.)
PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OVER 15 MPH DOWN THIS ROAD OUT OF RESPECT FOR NEIGHBORS.
5 MPH ONCE ON PROPERTY DUE TO CHILDREN AND ANIMALS.
